Evening snark break ...

While you were getting your old roommate put on the Terrorist Watch List ... that'll teach him to drink the last beer.

Apparently J.P. Ricciardi thinks Stubby Clapp is a STD. It's great that the Jays kind of screwed over Canada's Olympic baseball team by promoting Scott Richmond to the majors. It lets you say whatever you want to say.

There's an upside to it if evidence of bird flu is found at the site of the Olympic equestrian events — maybe it gets the event out of the Games, for good. Don't worry about bird flu keeping Ian Millar from competing in his ninth Olympics — he'll only be 65 in 2012.

It must be great to be a Canadian player in the WNBA like Tammy Sutton-Brown. Due to the Olympic break, you get an extra two weeks of holidays.

The Rapidz are having "Break The Attendance Record Presented By East Side Mario's" on Aug. 4. Does that mean everyone gets unlimited bread and salad? (No one outside Ontario is going to get that; but hey, no joke is too obscure that it won't eventually find an audience.)

Don't ask how this came to our attention (the things you have to do on the sports desk), but there's actually a youth soccer player named Taylor Kidd — the same name as a boulevard in Kingston.

Fuck the Olympics. as a fan of the Jays, I want J.P. to put the Blue Jays first, and that's what he is doing.

Remember, it's Snark Break, nothing is sacred and nothing is really that serious.

I'd love J.P. to put the Jays in first. Richmond is a helluva story.

A very strong argument can be made that the best thing for the Jays would be to let there prospects play in meaningful, intense games--not that they'll need that skill in Toronto. It's the second hit to the Canadian Olympic team this week - Pete Orr pulled out earlier to stay in Washington.

And East Side Mario's > Boston Pizza.

Their prospects. I's a riter.

The stronger argument is that the MLB and the Olympics are a shotgun marriage and there probably won't be much effort put toward a reconciliation -- getting it back in the Olympics in 2012.

MLB wants to build up the World Baseball Classic, which aside from the pitchers being on strict pitch counts, fits a lot better with the rhythm of their season.

Women's fastpitch belongs in the Olympics but I'm not so sure what's the best fit ... men's fastpitch is not exactly a growth sport -- what would we do, take guys out of the Inter-County League and give them a crash course in hitting risers?

Hey...it would give New Zealand a medal hope, so that's something. I was actually going to do a post on this last week--and I still might--but I came across a link suggesting that MLB would consider shutting down the season in 2016 if the Games were in Chicago or Japan.

Really, I hadn't seen that?

Yeah Boston Pizza is a decent bar --it's like the McDonalds of sports bars in Canada. Pretty much anywhere you go you know that you are going to get the exact same set up. That's nice when you travel a bit and there is a game that you want to see. The food's OK, but East Side's wins because of the bottomless salad. Great salad at East Side's.
