Nice little write up in the G&M, but...
Did you read the 1st sentence of the 2nd paragraph? Might be the most ridiculous statement ever published by the G&M.
Both here and in the United States, basketball followers are in the minority.
Do you think they've ever been to the U.S.? Hockey playoffs down south are a distant second to NBA pre-season lay-up lines. NHL playoffs are less important to the average Yank than any basketball game that requires the players to wear matching uniforms.
That graf did give pause ... the NBA's national audience, though, doesn't seem to be on the same level as baseball, the NFL's or the NCAA basketball tournament. That might have been the comparison they were trying to make.
