YOU THROW IT, I'LL CATCH IT

Nice: Entertainment Weekly is counting down the 100 biggest Oscar snubs. Nick Nolte's role in North Dallas Forty (one of the top three sports films of all time) came in at No. 95 ... "As jaded NFL vet Phillip Elliott, Nolte evokes the essence of an aging jock with body language alone: You can almost hear the joints creaking."

Ninety-fifth on a list of 100. That sounds about right for the film adaptation of one of the books in the personal canon (right in between the Richler and Hunter S. Thompson).
