CIS CORNER: RMC REACHES INTO REDMEN RANKS

The new RMC Paladins hockey coach knows all about having Queen's for a rival: Adam Shell, who was announced today as Jim Hulton's replacement, comes to Kingston after two seasons as an assistant coach with the McGill Redmen, whom he also played for.

Shell's C.V., in short: He played both forward and defence at McGill, and coming from that program means he has experience in dealing with a dressing room where both French and English are spoken, which is a reality at RMC. Between Shell, 26, and Queen's coach Brett Gibson, next season's Carr-Harris Cup in Kingston will also be a matchup of the 20-something coaches. Both are only a few years removed from being active CIS players.

The RMC athletic-admin people seem to have a thing for McGill types. Former Paladins coach Kelly Nobes, who guided Laurier to within an overtime goal of the national final last season, was also a former McGill player.
