BELLEVILLE BALLER, 11-FOOT BASKETS

Couple of hoops notes:

  • Carleton Ravens incoming freshman Aaron Chapman, who's from Belleville, apparently has a good chance at playing for Canada in the FIBA under-19 worlds in Serbia, reports Mark Wacyk at cishoops.ca.

Another OUA East player in the mix for the U-19 squad is Ryerson Rams big man Boris Bakovic, who led the division in rebounding as a freshman in '06-07. Again, Mark is just doing a wicked job keeping everyone up-to-date.
  • Deadspin had a thread going yesterday on the experimental basketball game with 11-foot baskets that was noted here on Saturday.

Jerry Brewer, the Seattle Times columnist, had a favourable reaction to the experiment: "I really think raising the goal to 11-feet is a good idea that I'd like to see more of ... I'm open to radical measures. Whatever it takes to improve fundamentals and make this brand of basketball the best it can be, I'm all for."
