Gatineau pitcher Phillippe Aumont went to the Seattle Mariners with the No. 11 overall pick in the MLB Draft. Mariners scouts must have a thing for tall, hard-throwing high school pitchers from Canada. Back in 2001, Port Dover, Ont.'s John Axford, now pitching in the Yankees chain, was originally drafted by Seattle out of high school, around the seventh round.
Anyhow, I'm not going to bluff my way through pretending to be knowledgeable about the Blue Jays' two first-rounders, switch-hitting high school shortstop Kevin Ahrens from Houston and University of Tennessee catcher Jonathan Arencibia.
