BLEEDING TRICOLOUR... GOOD LUCK, JOGGLER

Some big doings involving ye olde alma mater:

  • Golden Gaels runner Travis Saunders is going to attempt to set a world record for joggling -- juggling while running -- during a 5K on Sunday during the Limestone City Race Weekend, reports Kingston This Week's Stephen Petrick. The existing mark is 16 minutes 55 seconds. Saunders, who as a teen was part of a Canadian arts delegation sent to the 2000 Sydney Olympics, has a PB of 16:10 running the 5K the "lazy, hands-free way," as Petrick calls it.
  • With Jock Harty Arena soon to meet the wrecking ball to make way for the new Queen's Centre, Whig-Standard sports ed. Claude Scilley reports that the men's hockey Gaels might have to play some home games in Napanee -- a 45-minute drive from campus -- next season. And no, I had no pull in getting Gaels games possibly moved to my hometown.
  • The women's hoops Gaels seem to be having a good recruiting season: Brittany Moore, a point guard out of Hamilton's St. Thomas More, has signed on with the Dave Wilson-coached team. Moore plays her club basketball with Alaina Porter, another incoming frosh hoopster.
  • Might have mentioned this before: Friend of the blog and cisfootball.org regular Snake Wilson has founded Green Snakeoil, dedicated to the Saskatchewan Huskies (and when there's time and Snake's feeling generous, the Regina Rams/Cougars). Anyone who knows of a blog that does a lot of CIS coverage, don't be shy sending a link.

That's all for now. Send your thoughts to neatesager@yahoo.ca.
