LYNX: RIPPING IT UP IN SCRANTON

The Citizens Voice, one of the local papers down in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, practically made the Lynx out to be a juggernaut following their 9-2 pasting of the ScranYanks last night. They did everything short of walk right into Dunder Mifflin and ask that cute receptionist out:

"Ottawa's lineup is stocked with Triple-A veterans and former major leaguers. On Saturday, the Lynx scored 17 runs against the Yankees. This time, the offensive outburst wasn't quite so drastic, but it was plenty effective."

Lynx lefty Brian Mazone had a 1.96 home era pitching in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last year, so it was probably little shock he threw another good game in his homecoming. By the way, how come the team is called Scranton/Wilkes-Barre but the stadium is actually in Moosic, Pa.? And would you believe Brennan King's three-run, ninth-inning homer that iced the game was the team's first all season? It's kind of impressive the Lynx started 7-6 without hitting one homer.

Sidenote: As expected, John Axford, the rookie pitcher from Port Dover, Ont., had a short stint in Triple-A. The Yankees have assigned him to Staten Island of the short-season Class A New York-Penn League, whose regular season won't begin until June 19, meaning he'll likely face some extended spring training.

That's all for now. Send your thoughts to neatesager@yahoo.ca.
