SHORT SATURDAY AFT. MUSINGS

From around the blogosphere:

Darryl Humber at
Baseball Central says it wouldn't be a shock if Ray Olmedo emerges as the starting shortstop as the Blue Jays. The irony of Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi acquiring Olmedo is that he was in line to take over Cincinnati's shortstop job from Barry Larkin a few years back. He wasn't ready and lost out to Felipe Lopez -- who had been the Jays' shortstop for much of 2002 before Ricciardi gave up on him and traded him following that season (for a player who never appeared in a game). Hey, maybe it's one of those things that will come out in the wash.

Kiss Suzy Kolber is equally sick of the New England Patriots and their Boswell, Bill Simmons.

Now that Deadspin has mentioned, new Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin does look a bit like actor Omar Epps.

The Toronto Star's Dave Feschuk points out what many people, even junior hockey fans, might not realize: John Tavares isn't eligible for the NHL draft until 2009.

Capital Hoops Classic ticket sales have reached 8,700.
