A PRETTY NICE LITTLE SATURDAY

We're going to go to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I don't know. I don't know if we'll have enough time.

Well, actually, it's a day out, so no updates until likely some time after midnight. The Queen's Golden Gaels are in town for the Ontario University Athletics football semifinal against the vaunted Ottawa Gee-Gees, so it's over to Frank Clair Stadium for the 1 p.m. kickoff.

To ensure anonymity, I've asked for media accreditation under the name of "Neate Sager."

I took the Gee-Gees in this week's CIS picks. Had to. The Gaels are huge underdogs, plus they've lost the last six games yours truly has watched in in person dating back to the 2002 Yates Cup -- and have brought out both a character called General Jerkishness and a comparison with Ed Wood movies.

Granted, Deadspin founder Will Leitch thought for a while he had hexed his beloved St. Louis Cardinals, and I think we all know how that turned out.

After the football game, it's back on OC Transpo and out to Kanata -- tickets for the Sens and the Carolina Hurricanes, don't you know.

Enjoy your Saturday. Send your thoughts to neatesager@yahoo.ca.

"Read the game story linked about and judge for yourself if the hometown paper in Edmonton went a little overboard harping on McGeough's call. Like it was McGeough who put the Oilers behind 2-0 on home ice in the first place"

Are you seriously going to sit there and say that that was a fair call? I really hope not. And there is nothing gone overboard in the paper. It wasnt the front page. It is something that has inferiorated the whole city and not just the whole city but real "sports obessed" fans of the NHL. If you watched the whole game you would of seen where lindros crossed over Roloson's crease and knocked the stick out of his hand. That could of been goalie interference and would of resulted in a power play for the oilers which could of ended up with them scoring a goal instead of dallas getting one.So yeah it is mcgoof's fault. How is a hockey team supposed to be motivated and be able to win a game when it doesnt matter how you or the other team plays - you just get shit on every time that ref is reffing a game. And maybe it is so aggrevating because this isnt the first time he has been an idiot ref. He should be fired on the spot and the oilers should be given a point for that goal. I am not going to say that they deserved to win the game last night cause they played like shit but a goal is a goal and a penalty is a penalty and we were screwed on both sides of the coin

Krista, not to sound like a cop-out, but I was only asking if the story went overboard -- remember that newspaper guys seldom make a big issue out of the calls.

I didn't have the benefit of seeing the entire game so I exempted myself from making a call on McGeough's work in and of itself.

Thanks for your interest
