SOMETHING ... MID-WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON

Short tidbits before heading out to the real job:
  • Late on this, but what the hey: Canada's women's fastpitch team has qualified for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, with Lauren Bay and Robin Mackin combining on a no-hitter in a 3-0 win over Italy at the Worlds in China.
  • Bad news, Queen's Golden Gaels fans: Starting running back Marty Gordon might be out for the season after hurting some knee ligaments against the U of T.
  • Which football previews do you think took more time: My NFL Preview in 30 Minutes Or It's Free, or my Canadian Interuniversity Sport previews -- Atlantic, Quebec, Ontario and Can West?
  • Lament not the Ottawa Lynx.
  • Roy Halladay's Cy Young chances are D-U-N done.
  • Book club: Dave Bidini's The Best Game You Can Name makes it 32 on the year. Douglas Coupland's Hey Nostradamus! was No. 31 and Neal Pollack's rock 'n' roll novel Never Mind The Pollacks was No. 30.

That's all for now. Send your thoughts to neatesager@yahoo.ca.

Halladay once again carried the blue jays and once again it wasn't enough.
