DAUNTE BURNED IN PITTSBURGH

Well, the Vikings fans who always claimed that the team would never, ever win anything so long as Daunte Culpepper was the team's starting quarterback probably enjoyed last night's NFL season opener.

Daunte tossed two picks in the deciding minutes to seal the Fins' fate in a 28-17 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The first, after Pittsburgh had taken the lead, was forced into triple coverage. On the second, Steelers linebacker Joey Porter took it all the way back to clinch the victory.

No so good if your Week 1 picks involved Miami and the under.

Cut him some slack, though. Culpepper (18-for-37, 262 yards, no TDs) didn't look half bad, considering a sputtering running game left him in a lot of obvious passing downs. For once, Miami's biggest problem isn't on offence.

That's all for now. Send your thoughts to neatesager@yahoo.ca.

He wasn't that good. He is going to have to get better...I think it was a little bit of rust though.

Maybe I should have said he didn't look half bad, but he didn't look half good either.

Miami's game plan was a big problem, though.
