WRAPPING UP THE WEEK

Here's what was happening in Out of Left Field's world this week:

SUNDAY: Roger Federer won Wimbledon, there was this big soccer match involving a French national hero, and apparently there's no qualms here about a drug trafficker being free to coach youth swimming. The fact he's actually doing it? Yeah, that's little bit troubling.

MONDAY: Martin Havlat's trade from the Ottawa Senators to the Chicago Blackhawks heralded the beginning of the end for The Dynasty That Never Was, I began a soul-searching quest to find a Premiership team to call my own, and there was a list of Girlfriend-Friendly Sports Movies presented by a very lonely, very single man.

TUESDAY: On a night when Joe Buck and Tim McCarver managed to not completely ruin the All-Star game, it was all about the sports clichés.

WEDNESDAY: The Brantford Expositor (aka The Suppositor) taught us all a lesson -- in how not to practise good journalism.

THURSDAY: In a Very Special Blog, we all learned that paintball, adolescent male hormones, highway driving and SUVs can be a deadly mix; there was free-form ranting about being a member of the Overtaxed and Undersexed Generation, and The Geek had his say on baseball history.

FRIDAY (or as some of you call it, "today"): Rogers Sportsnet was warned not to ramp up the Bimbo Factor, there was plaintive hope-against-hope that the Blue Jays aren't licked yet and Blog Associate Neil Acharya was announced as the newest member of Out of Left Field's stable of writers (thereby briging it up all the way to two.)

Oh yes, and my "You're With Me, Leather" t-shirt arrived in the mail. So now when I go out in public, emboldened by my "You're With Me, Leather" t-shirt, women won't be staring right past me: they'll be giving me confused looks. The odd one -- she would have to be odd to notice me -- may even engage me in conversation. Well, that, friends, is progress.

Have an average weekend. Send your thoughts to neatesager@yahoo.ca.
