HOPE FOR OTTAWA FOOTBALL FANS, SORT OF

Just a few quick items before I head off to my real job:
  • The Ottawa Sun (which is my real job, by the way) is reporting that beer baron Frank D'Angelo wants to revive the dormant Ottawa Renegades, only he wants to rename them the Ottawa Steelback, after his brand his beer. Sounds like the right guy to be the latest CFL saviour in Ottawa, although the fact D'Angelo's exploited Ben Johnson's infamy to plug an energy drink probably disqualifies him from sainthood. Well, that, and owning a brewery.
  • Canada's own Steve Nash is reportedly going to be named the NBA's MVP for a second straight season. It probably should have been LeBron or Kobe, but considering how Nash steered the Suns through the loss of AmarĂ© Stoudamire, he's a deserving pick, if not the most deserving.
  • Now that Marc Crawford is looking for work, Damien Cox writes that the team we must not mention would be foolhardy to tap him as their next coach.
  • Congratulations are in order to Dick Cherry, who's joining his famous brother Don and their father, Del, in the Kingston Sports Hall of Fame. A long, long time ago, in a place far, far away (actually, it's only about a 2 1/2-hour drive), Mr. Cherry was my principal at Bath Public School for five years. And he was an original Philadelphia Flyer.

That's all for today. We'll see you around the bend, Number Two.

It's amusing how D'Angelo is whining and kicking up a pout storm (not unlike my two year old) when he in fact begs for the critisism by plastering his face on tv with lame commercials including paid off ex nhl stars to sit with him and gab. I've yet to come across anyone who doesn't agree with the blog comments....
