Get the meme: Ken Takahashi is Japanese for Jamie Moyer.
Takahashi, whom the Jays have apparently signed, is a nearly 40-year-old left-hander. As NPB Tracker noted, it could have been reasonably expected that he would get a major-league contract. The Jays apparently only had to offer a minor-league deal for Takahashi, who projects as a spot starter and middle reliever. It didn't cost any more to bring him in than it did to try out Victor Zambrano or John Parrish.
It's something, point being, with pitchers and catchers reporting to delightfully different Dunedin in less than two weeks.
