Our niche has been co-opted! Score!

It's a pleasure to announce some big news involving The CIS Blog (cisblog.ca).

The site has been included in theScore.com Sports Federation, a blog network which the network launched this morning, involving 12 Canadian-based sites. It's the only one dedicated to amateur sport (insert your own Leafs or Canucks joke), so it does feel like a bit of a coup to see the site included. James Mirtle, who has the university sports beat for The Globe & Mail in addition to his renowned hockey writing, saw a need for such a site. Andrew Bucholtz and Rob Pettapiece have carried on with the work and really built it up over the past couple months.

A debt of gratitude is owed to Scott Carefoot from RaptorBlog.com, who'sa heavy hitter with the network's digital media ventures. We promise not to disappoint.

Here's a full roster of the inaugural members of the Federation:

BLUE JAYS
Drunk Jays Fans
Ghostrunner on First

RAPTORS
RaptorBlog.com
Dino Nation Blog

HOCKEY
Down Goes Brown (Leafs)
Canucks Hockey Blog
Five Hole Fanatics (Flames)
Sens Chirp
Black Dog Hates Skunks (Oilers)
Lions in Winter (Canadiens)

I object to the Canucks being mentioned in the same breath as the Leafs;). We are leading our division at the moment, and the Roberto Luongo Era is in full swing. Sure, the team will probably implode by the end of the year, but there's hope for the moment!

@ Andrew: I'm kind of hoping Sundin goes to the Canucks. That would be a whole lot of awesome.

He's far too exciting for the Canucks. They'd lose their prized insomniac demographic.

Neate, congrats, well deserved.

I would just like to point out that, among these inaugural blogs, we have:

- two covering the Jays
- two covering the Raptors
- one covering each Canadian NHL team
- and one covering 86 basketball teams, 27 football teams, 61 hockey teams, and whatever else goes on in the CIS.

Don't say "whatever," you're giving Andrew license to post on volleyball!

(Kidding, Andrew.)
