Canadian connection to football match fixing

Canadian international Tomasz Radzinski has put himself straight in the middle of the match fixing controversy that is currently swirling around European football .

Speaking to a Belgian magazine he admitted that his former Greek Superleague team Xanthi threw a game last season (no link to the Belgian article, but the key parts are repeated here). Radzinski says that he was not part of the fix.

It isn't quite as big a story as the possibility of Bayern Munich throwing the UEFA Cup semi-final (for you non-soccer folks that story is akin to the Detroit Red Wings throwing a game), but it is interesting that a current player is admitting that there is something going on. It will also be interesting to see if the Canadian media picks up on this when Radzinski plays in Edmonton next week.

With the fact the Canadians will through in the towel, not likely anyone - other than hardcore fans - will be paying much attention next week...what a shame

Forget match-fixing. Canadian journalists should be busy asking for Dale Mitchell's head on a plate in Deadmonton.

Why should we have to ask...it should be there already. What we journalists should REALLY be doing is grilling those CSA folks over the hot coals that we'll have out to keep warm in the press box...

Hey...maybe they'll win in Honduras and it will mean something...
