Aumont pitching in Yankee Stadium

It's kind of a big deal: Phillippe Aumont has been selected for the Futures Game that will be played at Yankee Stadium on July 13, two days before the major-league all-star game.

Aumont's the only Canadian, but Jays prospect Scott Campbell will be joining him on the World roster. He had to shut it down for a bit, but the numbers have been very good thus far for him in the Midwest League: 2.62 earned-run average, 1.44 groundout-to-flyout ratio, 8.66 strikeouts per nine innings.

Joey Votto played in last year's game and hit a home run for the victorious World team.

Good for Aumont. Yankee Stadium is obviously a big step up from pitching for the Nepean Canadians in front of friends and family ( I saw him pitch at Lynx / Ottawa / Rapidz Stadium last season before the draft ).

I am very surprised that fellow Mariners' prospect and Cdn Michael Saunders wasn't selected. He is having a great, great season. Maybe there was a glut of OFs.
