THEIR STRENGTH IS READING OUT LOUD, BUT THAT'S NOT SAYING MUCH

What's that old saying about removing all doubt? Citytv's self-fluffery for their infomercial disguised as a Blue Jays telecast trumpets their "unique flare" for broadcasting.

The correct word is flair, you functioning illiterates. The other flare is a baseball broadcasting term for a soft line drive that falls in for a hit. Granted, that is one more baseball term than Gord Martineau bothered to learn before he went on the air on Sunday.

Normally this would be excused. Everything is fair when Citytv offers up such sorry fare -- and then carries on like they are the cat's ass. If they're so irreverent, let's see them try to do this with a Leafs exhibition game in September. The image of a pot of boiling oil being rolled up to 299 Queen St. W. comes to mind.
