BILLY CRYSTAL HACKS IN THE ACT...

The fact Billy Crystal, on the eve of his 60th birthday, actually made contact against a professional pitcher in a fake major-league game will seem kind of impressive, at least until the replays of his lunging, groping-in-the-dark swing appear on sportscasts later tonight.

It was a pure Walter Mitty moment, the comic getting to play for his beloved Yankees. One thing that's bothersome 16 years later, though. Crystal's such a Yankees fan, but in the City Slickers movies, his character wore a New York Mets cap (it was the early '90s and they were the more popular team in the years after the 1986 World Series). Wouldn't creative control have extended to choice of headgear, was it supposed to comment on the character or was he just a fair-weather fan?
