GETTING HIS KICKS

OK, so it's out of season for the MLS, but it's never too early to start rooting for Canadian defender Matthew Britner of Halifax, seeing as The Score's website did it almost two weeks ago.

Way back when, Britner was among several promising teenaged athletes yours truly profiled while interning at the Halifax Daily News. (Others included Adrienne Power, who will probably run for Canada in Beijing, Olympic snowboarder Sarah Conrad and a hockey player for the Dartmouth Subways midget AAA team who also had the initials S.C., but whose full name escapes me. Wonder what happened to him.)

Here's wishing Britner well.

Thanks for the link: always great to see some soccer stuff. I follow the Canadian national team and its potential players pretty closely, but I hadn't heard of Britner before: sounds like he'll be a prospect to watch for the future! It would be great if TFC could find some way to snare him...
