DAMIEN COX GOES WALL STREET ON BAY ST.

Picture the scene in Wall Street when Gordon Gekko stands up at a shareholders' meeting and tells off all the senior executives of a bloated corporation, "Teldar Paper has 33 different vice presidents each earning over 200 thousand dollars a year. Now, I have spent the last two months analyzing what all these guys do, and I still can't figure it out."

That's the pretty much the vibe of Damien Cox's column in the Toronto Star today. As Gekko might have said it, with Maple Leaf Sports Entertainment Ltd., "The new law of evolution .. seems to be survival of the unfittest. Well, in my book you either do it right or you get eliminated."

(Yet, this totally does nothing to disabuse one of his lifelong Leafs loyalty, although at this point, being a Leafs fan is probably a lot like being a lapsed Catholic.)
