MLB PLAYOFFS: THE END OF THE YANKEES, UNTIL APRIL

The Yankees are still a force to reckoned with.

Sometimes the words, they just don't come: Roger Clemens dropped off the roster for Ron Villone; Alex Rodriguez doing little until he hit a window-dressing home run (with the bases empty). Derek Jeter and his intangibles that can power small cities hitting into three double plays in four games. At least Mike Mussina finally found duties he could handle, being reduced to a mop-up man.

What was that about Cleveland's Paul Byrd and his good road ERA? It was good enough. A Cleveland-Colorado World Series almost has to happen now, although logic says the Red Sox have better hitting and pitching in the American League championship series.
