- Gee-Gees: Wayne Kondro has the dirt in the Citizen on a mass resignation by four key members of the U of O women's hoops team -- Tina Ethier, Hilary Foster, Sara Hrehoriak and Moriah Trowell, who was the main cog in the back-to-back OUA East-winning teams
For a latecomer, it's hard to get the full gamut of what's going on U of O sports. (If a takedown's to be done, it needs the reach and permanency of newsprint.)
For all the good stories -- having two fall sport teams at the top of the national rankings -- there's a lot of eye-opening stuff: Four players leaving a team, small crowds at football games, or the departure of hard-working SID John Bower last spring -- that raises fair questions about what's happening behind the scenes. - Golden Gaels: Already wrote a bit on the weekend about the men's basketball team. Well, lookee here, their first CIS national ranking, No. 9 with a bullet. (Not the first since Rob Smart became coach, not the first in a while, the first ever.) The Gaels were also No. 9 in both the NABCC and cishoops.ca polls as well.
Player revolt ravages Gee-Gees (Wayne Kondro, Ottawa Citizen)
