Brennan King and Gary Burnham missed a chance to put the Lynx ahead, failing to drive in Joe Thurston in the fifth after he hit a RBI triple with one-out in the fifth to tie the score 3-3. Two innings later, they came through, with King cadging a two-out walk before Burnham jacked the game-winning homer.
Strange — the Lynx had a comeback win in their last home game, which was also on the same night the FIFA U-20 soccer was taking place across town. Can we make that tournament last longer?
Shortstop Danny Sandoval is back in the lineup and was 3-for-4 with a RBI tonight. Jesus Merchan has returned to Reading and so has right-hander Charlie Weatherby III, who had done fairly well in his last few starts.
The Lynx have five Expos alumni -- Oil Can Boyd, Warren Cromartie, Delino DeShields, Claude Raymond and Rodney Scott -- coming in for a promotion on July 22. Fans can bid on eBay for the right to play a three-inning game against those teams and local media personalities, and The Cro will put a a clinic for 100 local kids on July 19.
Pete Toms of A Baseball Geek is back in the basement and blogging again.
Someone at work the other day was querying as to the whereabouts of former Lynx first baseman Walter Young, who played here a couple years ago. Carl Kiiffner of Ottawa Lynx Blog did some Googling and found out Young is playing in Winnipeg with the Northern League's Goldeyes. Young is hitting .291, but with not a lot of power for a big guy (.423 slugging) for the Goldeyes who, of course, have the Northern League's top average attendance even though their ticket prices are more than what it costs to watch Triple-A ball in Ottawa.
Landon Jacobsen (1-1, 1.42, 1.18 WHIP) faces the Tides' Australian left-hander Craig Anderson (1-2, 4.56, 1.14 WHIP) in Friday's game.
That's all for now. Send your thoughts to neatesager@yahoo.ca.

Hey N, I noticed that Carl had uncovered the wherabouts of Walter Young. He was a fan favorite when he was here.
Winnipeg is the one city in this country that supports pro ball enthusiastically. According to a feature on Indy ball in SBJ this May, "...Winnipeg, is one of the top draws in all minor league baseball year after year (6,504 fans per game in 2006). I don't think the Expos drew that well in their final years.
Many folks, I think you included, have told me that the stadium in Winnipeg is way cool and that it is a really fun atmosphere for ball.
