Staying out of the double play saved the Lynx in today's 9-7 win (boxscore, play-by-play) on getaway day in Pawtucket.
With one out and one on in the eighth, up 6-1, Jim Rushford grounded to second, but the only play was to first as Jim Rushford moved up to second. That kept the inning alive for Danny Sandoval (RBI double) and Pedro Swann (two-run single) to put the game just out of reach.
The qualifier has to be used since the Paw Sox got six runs in the eighth to make the game closer than it should have been. J.A. Happ (one run across six innings) got his long-awaited second win of the season. Speaking of something that's been a long time in the waiting, Rushford hit a sixth-inning grand slam off Paw Sox righty Mike Burns for his first homer of the season.
For anyone who's interested, there's an opportunity to among the first to join the Save Our Lynx Facebook group. It just started today!
