- So it turns out the Golden Gaels are apparently getting Rob Bagg back from the Saskatchewan Roughriders this fall — reader Tyler King, one of voices of the Gaels, has passed on that the campus radio station has reported as much.
Bagg, by most reports, had a good camp. The general understanding with his situation is he could practise but not play and then return as a fifth-year receiver with the Gaels (who have need of a featured receiver). It's a real catch-22 to be in his situation.
The Riders roster still lists him and former Gaels offensive lineman Ryan Freeman. Shame on us for trusting a CFL team to have an up-to-date website. We're going to shut up now.
(UPDATE, June 28: The Whig-Standard has a follow up.) - Quick U of O recruiting note: The women's basketball Gee-Gees have announced two new recruits. One is Kaytlyn Faucon, a 5-foot-11 forward from North Bay with a varied athletic background -- she was also a provincial high school champion in Nordic skiing (and a hurdler during track season). The other is a 5-9 combo guard, Jade Fair from Guelph, who gets a thumbs-up for having such a great basketball name.

Hate to contradict you, Neate, but just heard on CFRC that Bagg is not dressing with the Roughriders and will return to play for the Gaels this fall.
All right, Tyler, I will have to do a rewrite... the Riders roster listed him as of today.
Yeah, it came as a surprise to me as well - especially since I think he'd all but ruled out a return in a Queen's Journal interview earlier on.
According to Bill Miklas it was a bit of a last-minute decision so I'm not surprised you didn't get the scoop on the website.
If you tune into CFRC right now he's being interviewed.
Oh yeah, and I'm not one of the voices of the Gaels since I've never called a football game, though thanks for the compliment anyway :-)
Tyler,
You're a Queen's student, you have a voice, ergo voice of the Gaels. You were in a Gael group in Frosh Week, right?
nope, I was in England for first year
So voice of the Gaels it is? Come on.....
It's a pretty convincing argument: Come on.......
I won't complain.
Perhaps more interesting is the fact that this story in the Whig-Standard: http://www.thewhig.com/webapp/sitepages/content.asp?contentid=586796&catname=Sports&classif= is completely false.
Careful, I'm already persona non grata with Osprey Media, although I can't say I disagree with them. Just kidding, but not really.
