LYNX: SPIRITED RALLY FALLS SHORT

Hopefully some of the six hundred fifty-six true believers stayed to the bitter end to give the Lynx a slow clap for almost coming from seven runs down over the final three innings in a 7-6 loss (boxscore, play-by-play) to Buffalo. They had Gary Burnham up at bat in the bottom of the ninth representing the winning run.

The decisive blow seems to be the two-run shot Buffalo's Brad Snyder hit off Lynx starter J.D. Durbin (0-3, 6.89 ERA) in the sixth inning. That gave Buffalo the breathing room that their hockey brethren hasn't been able to find over the past six days.

Lynx roster moves: Righty Matt Childers, who had a tough go Monday vs. Indianapolis, has been put on the disabled list with a sore knee. Meantime, some relievers have been moved around -- Anderson Garcia, who pitched with the Lynx briefly in '06, has been called up from Double-A Reading, while Ryan Cameron rejoins the R-Phils after nine days with the Lynx, all of which would have been spent on the road.
