CIS CORNER: YES, AND THEY'D RATHER DRINK AT PEEL PUB, THAN SPEND THE NIGHT IN JAIL

There will be two McGill University graduates coaching against each other if the Red Wings and Senators meet in the Stanley Cup final.

It's well-known that Sens coach Bryan Murray, when he was GM of Anaheim, hired Red Wings coach Mike Babcock. Babcock also has that McGill tie he wears as a good-luck charm. Whatever the reason -- no lucky tie, to begin with -- it doesn't seem to be as known that Murray is also a McGill grad (his Ottawa Valley roots get more play in Ottawa, understandably).
Greg Wyshynski
of AOL Fanhouse flipped over at that rock in an interview with Dr. Gordon A. Bloom of McGill's Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education about Babcock's sports psychology background. (Link via Mirtle.)

Murray took his phys-ed degree at Macdonald College (now Macdonald campus) in west-end Montreal. As a Queen's man, there was hope that some Googling would reveal that Macdonald was not part of McGill when Murray attended (it did have its own football team), proving that those rotten Redmen and malevolent Martlets were just trying to lay claim to Murray now that he's world-famous all over Canada.* That is not the case, so if it's Red Wings-Senators in the final, it'll be a McGill field day, not that there wouldn't be enough storylines already.

Yes, and last call is a hour later in Quebec and Montreal has more pretty women than Kingston. We know.

(* To borrow a line from late, great Montrealer Mordecai Richler, who did not attend McGill.)
