THIS JAY THROWS BOTH WAYS; KICK IN THE (FROZEN) POSTERIOR FOR LYNX

This you have to read if you're a baseball fan with a jones for the unorthodox: Pat Venditte, a college pitcher at Creighton University (whose teams are the Bluejays, one word), got a write-up in the New York Times for his unique ability to pitch with either hand. He's not a novelty act — apparently he's legit. (Via Deadspin.)

Lynx opener: Lord only knows what the weather was like -- nearly Buffalo was snowed out and you saw the highlights from Cleveland yesterday -- but it was likely a contributing factor for Ottawa in a 12-11 walk-off loss to Rochester. Both teams made four errors, and the Lynx bullpen, Kane Davis and ex-Jay Justin Miller, walked four straight batters in the bottom of the ninth to force in Rochester's winning run.

Talk about a kick in the rear end, although with the weather, the Lynx probably would have wanted someone to check that they still had feeling in that area. Lou Collier was one of the hitting stars, 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Jason Jaramillo had a go-ahead triple in the ninth -- how many catchers triple in the their Triple-A debut?
