Sun Media's own Bruce Garrioch draws a good comparison with playoff scheduling vis-a-vis hockey teams run by Lou Lamoriello and everyone else:
"How else can you explain the Vancouver Canucks playing a Game 7 vs. the Dallas Stars Monday night and then flying to Anaheim to open Round 2 against the Ducks last night."
Garrioch also dug up this gem: Apparently Lou Lamoriello even thought of buying out the ice show scheduled for Continental Airlines Arena on Saturday. That would have required spending money, so you know that idea didn't fly.

Sometimes you count the votes, sometimes you weigh them. :-) Lou is an influential guy amongst other Governors, to say the least, so keeping him happy and onside is critical to Bettman. The Canucks owners, OTOH, are newbies, as is their GM. When deciding who to tick off and to kiss up to, it would be a pretty easy decision for the League.
