PLAYOFFS? PLAYOFFS?! DAY 16

What you might have missed as your friends tried to convince you that you're over 30 years old and owe it to yourself not to play in a band called Sonic Death Monkey.

Sharks 2 Red Wings o (San Jose leads 1-0): At the rate Detroit is losing players Gordie Howe might yet become the first seven-decade player. San Jose's played well in the Eastern time zone all year (now 7-2-0), so this doesn't come as too much of a shock.

Senators 5 Devils 4 (Ottawa leads 1-0): Martin Brodeur needed a game last series to figure out the opposing shooters' tendences, but brains can only overcome so much poor defence. Whether or not the Sens will have a Game 2 letdown depends on how much you believe this is a changed crew from post-season flops past, although a loss seems in order since a split was what Ottawa could realistically expect out of the first two games at the Cont (as some have taken to calling the Continental Airlines Arena). Going up 2-0 on the road, that's just rare.

(Yes, yes, forgot about that window-dressing goal Jersey scored in the final minute.)

That's all for now. Send your thoughts to neatesager@yahoo.ca.
