Chin up to Lynx righty Zach Segovia after going seven strong innings and being tagged with another "L" in a 3-1 setback (box, play-by-play) vs. the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees tonight. It was essentially a carbon copy of his start last Friday at home vs. Charlotte -- he pitched decently, but didn't get much run support and trailed 2-1 after six. Just like against Charlotte, manager John Russell sent Segovia out for the seventh and he gave up the clinching run, but when you work efficiently (93 pitches over seven), that will translate into wins. Segovia's just been unlucky, to an extent.
This homestand coming up has an added wrinkle -- it's Indianapolis and Louisville (the Pirates' and Reds' affiliates), so the pitchers will get to bat. Louisville, which comes in for a four-game set beginning next Tuesday, also has Toronto native Joey Votto, last year's MVP in the Double-A Southern League. Votto wasn't hitting his weight a week ago but the numbers (.215/.366/.400) are starting to inch up for the 23-year-old.
