LYNX: BRENT, WE HARDLY KNEW YE

The Lynx have been unlucky of late -- more on that in a second -- but how's this for being born under a bad sign? Last week we profiled much-travelled Lynx newcomer Brent Abernathy, and already he's been traded by the Phillies to the Washington Nationals organization.

It's for the best for Abernathy -- he stays in the National League, he joins an organization where the big club needs a lot of help, and the issue of being in Canada with a young family back home is removed. We wish him all the best. Carl Kiiffner's Ottawa Lynx Blog has a full take on Joe Thurston, the new second baseman brought up from Double-A Reading.

Righty J.A. Happ pitched five innings of no-hit ball (three walks, six strikeouts) yesterday in 38 F weather in Buffalo, but he wasn't exactly being Roy Halladay-economical. He came out after throwing 87 pitches, and the Bisons put up five runs across the next two innings for an eventual 5-3 win. Joe Bisenius came on for the sixth, but the Bisons handled his heat, working him for a walk and a couple scratch hits, all of which came around to score.
