ICEDOGS IS A BETTER NORTH BAY NAME...

Quick junior hockey note: With the Mississauga IceDogs still without a home for next season, an online petition to bring the Ontario Hockey League back to North Bay has collected more than 900 signatures.

Eugene Melnyk's Capital Sports Management, which needs to divest itself of the IceDogs so it can move the St. Michael's Majors to Mississauga, recently was spurned by Niagara Falls. That was too bad -- the Peninsula for some reason has been a graveyard for minor sports enterprises (OHL, minor-league baseball). It's a big area that you would think could support it, but maybe the people there are happier watching Junior B.
