By the way, anyone not going to watch the Penguins-Canadiens rematch in Montreal tomorrow afternoon, when the Habs might be a bit revenge-minded after Colby Armstrong's big hit on Saku Koivu in Thursday's game? Didn't think so.
Of course, given the NHL's luck of late, it should come as no surprise that a game where both teams might come out with a real hate on for each other would have to fall on Super Bowl Sunday.
Flames 6 Blue Jackets 2: Jarome Iginla gets three points in his return from injury, which was a welcome sight for Calgary, and so did defensive defenceman Robyn Regehr, which is just plain weird.
Red Wings 5 Blues 3: High comedy, indeed: for the second time in a week Nicklas Lidstrom just missed getting his 200th career goal; one of his shots was going in when that ratfink Kris Draper reached out and tapped it in. Oh well, it did turn out to be the game-winner.
Today's better games: Capitals-Penguins, 1; Leafs-Sens, 7; Sabres-Devils, 7:30; Canucks-Flames, 10.
HOMETOWN BREAKDOWN
They blew a three-goal lead to a bad team, but there was probably no way the Ottawa 67's would lose in coach Brian Kilrea's 2,000th game. Jakub Vojta scored in overtime for a 4-3 win, less than 30 seconds after the Toronto-St. Michael's Majors got a delay of game penalty for shooting the puck out of play. The teams meet again this afternoon at Scotiabank Place (2 p.m., Team 1200).
As for those suspension-ravaged Kingston Frontenacs, Chris Stewart and Peder Skinner have apparently decided to do it themselves. The Fronts couldn't even ice a full team last night, but Skinner set up all three of Stewart's goals and potted the game-winner with 7:43 left as they quieted the Sound Attack, 6-3. Both were plus-5 on the night as the Fronts stayed one point ahead of Ottawa for sixth place.
Why all the suspensions? Oh yeah...
That's all for now. Send your thoughts to neatesager@yahoo.ca.
