MUCH OBLIGED TO CHRIS YOUNG

There's a deep debt here to Toronto Star associate sports editor (Internet) Chris Young for the work he's done encouraging sports bloggers and promoting their work over the past 16 months.

Chris' own JABS is being retired as the Star retools its sports website. Here's the interesting part: In his farewell post, Chris mentioned a few sports bloggers by name, including Sean Smith of sportsBabel.

Smith has mentioned being from Kingston, and I vaguely remember a Sean Smith on a couple of my minor hockey teams. If that's the same guy, then great, there's another person from my childhood/high school/university years who's kicking my ass.

Neate, thanks for the mention. Yes, I am from Kingston, but based on some of the dates you mention in your blog, don't know if we are of the same vintage. I graduated from Regi in '91 -- though I did play minor hockey as a child, my main sport through high school was basketball.

Best wishes!

Cool Sean... well, that's one less childhood-adolescent-undergraduate contemporary who's kicking my ass in the game of life. The Sean Smith I had in mind would have graduated high school in 1996 or '97.
