The Halifax Herald had a little fun today with the fact that their hometown hero, Sidney Crosby, was left out of the trading cards McDonald's sells around the holiday season.
"I think it’s really bad that Crosby’s not in the pack because, yes, he was one of the top rookies and he’s like second or third in scoring as of right now," Dartmouth resident Saleem Minhas said Tuesday afternoon as he and his young son Dylan hit the McDonald’s drive-thru on Portland Street.
"(Alexander) Ovechkin’s in there, but he’s not even close to Crosby in points right now," Mr. Minhas said.
Kind of interesting, since Crosby, uh, isn't exactly loath to endorse commercial products. You have to wonder, though, if this has something to do with the negative publicity fast-food companies have been getting across North America.
(Small world: One of the Herald reporters who wrote the story, Kristen Lipscombe, played minor hockey with my sister Trina back in Kingston.)
