- If you only click on one website today (besides this one, of course), you should go to Bad Idea Blue Jeans and listen to Denis Leary go off on a Mel Gibson rant during the broadcast of last night's Red Sox-Tigers game. Leary starting wigging after Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis, who is Jewish, had made a couple of particularly nice defensive plays. The real humour is in wondering how sober Leary himself was at the time. (Deadspin also has the clip.)
- Seeing as Vikings wideout Koren Robinson, a recovering alcoholic, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving last night (he may also face a felony charge of fleeing police), does that spark a debate over when it's fair game to make light of a public figure with a drinking problem? Gibson is a laughingstock these days, although that has more to do with his anti-Semitic rant juxtaposed with his vanity project masquerading as a Biblical epic and other comments made after his arrest (i.e., "Sugartits") than his actual alcoholism. Robinson is far more low-profile and has never been similarly holier-than-thou, as far as anyone knows.
- Owen Nolan playing for the Phoenix Coyotes? James Mirtle believes it's a bad move.
- Our own Ottawa Lynx earned a mention at Deadspin for tomorrow night's Tropicana Twist promotion.
- Hometown Breakdown note: For a time, yours truly used to cover the Portage Terriers and the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. Best wishes, then, to Don MacGillivray and Blake Spiller, who were the Terriers coaches when I covered the team. Don is trying his hand at CIS hockey as the new head coach of the University of Manitoba Bisons, while Blake is getting his shot at a head-coaching job with the Terriers.
That's all for now. Send your thoughts to neatesager@yahoo.ca.

Tropicana Twist? Not only is it sponsored by a company, but it's straight out of the fifties, isn't it. Kind of funny. More disturbing.
