A HIGH-MINDED CAVALCADE OF WHIMSY...

As you downed a tall glass of a good "summer beer."
  • Bad news, England fans: Michael Owen is done for the World Cup and will be lost to Newcastle for a while when the Premiership starts.
  • World Cup matches coming up at 3 p.m. Eastern: the Netherlands and Argentina play for top spot in their group on Rogers Sportsnet, while TSN is stuck with the Côte d'Ivoire-Serbia & Montenegro match. What a burn on TSN that turned out to be, although there's no such thing as a "nothing game" in the World Cup. Every game is a celebration of soccer, didn't you know?
  • Who knew? Last night's Jays-Braves game was the first for Atlanta since the death of its dynasty, according to one fan who offers a requiem for his fast-fading team. The Geek is upset since he can't dance on Atlanta's grave; he had the Mets winning the NL East, but foolishly, foolishly tabbed the Braves for the wild card.

That's all for now. Send your thoughts to neatesager@yahoo.ca.
