Gary Bettman cannot see the forest for the empty seats...

The Phoenix Coyotes had 1,000 fans at a game. That is all.
"About 1,000 fans were at the 17,800-seat Jobing.com Arena for the Coyotes preseason opener."

That's just fabulous news. *sarcasm*

Well, at least this war between Bettman and Balsillie has proven one thing, once again: collateral damage is always the worst kind of damage.

One thing is for certain. The Jets attendance in their lame duck season (1995-96) will be significantly better than the Coyotes lame duck season this year.

Lame duck season?
NO NO NO!
There will be nothing of the sort in Phoenix, dear Teemu.
The Coyotes are in it for the long haul.
There's no doubt Arizona is a prime indigenous hockey market, just brimming with endless opportunity.
Sure, the team is going through a rough patch now.
But very soon this franchise will make its mark in the NHL, both at the gate and in the standings.
Trust me, all of the efforts to keep hockey in Phoenix will pay handsome dividends, you just wait.
