The ol' alma mater presented its athletic awards last night, so congratulations are in order for Queen's football standout Jimmy Allin and rower Kristine Matusiak for being named the school's athletes of the year at the annual Colour Night.
Also of note, our own Andrew Bucholtz was recognized for his invaluable contributions to the Tricoloured sportscape. The living legend from Langley, part man, part myth, part mustache, has been a cross-platforming media superstar throughout the school year as a sports editor of The Queen's Journal and no less than four blogs, including The 24th minute, cisblog.ca and Sporting Madness.
It is more than well-deserved. Andrew, Jared Book and Rob Pettapiece went the extra mile running live blogs during the recent CIS Final 8 in Ottawa. Andrew actually came up for the first-round games on the Friday, rushed back to Kingston for some Journal activities that Saturday which the sports ed. back in 1999-2000 (wow, spanning two decades) likely would have blown off, then came up on Sunday to liveblog the championship game. That is dedication.
It was not announced during the banquet, but CFRC 101.9 sports director Tyler King was also presented with the First Annual C. Montgomery Burns Award For Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Broadcasting Excellence.

Yeah, but that was at the technical Emmys, not the colour awards.
