CIS Corner: Heading into semi-final Saturday

Thanks to everyone who came by Friday to help out Andrew Bucholtz, Rob Pettapiece and Jared Book with the live blogging from CIS Final 8 at Scotiabank Place on Friday, where Carleton advanced to semi-final Saturday while Ottawa was ousted by Western, with extreme prejudice.

Out of Left Field's sister site cisblog.ca set a single-day traffic record. There will be live blogs of the semis, UBC-Calgary and Western-Carleton, starting around 6 p.m. tonight. I'll join play-by-play man Mark Masters and sideline reporter Alison Sandor on the Streaming Sports Network Canada webcast at ssncanada.ca.

Anything blog-worthy will be on either of those two sites, so apologies if this ends up being a quiet weekend on this site for other matters. (What's up with Syracuse only playing one overtime tonight?)

Incidentally, Carleton's rout of St. Francis Xavier had an even stronger Kingston connection than usual. Stu Turnbull's father, area coaching legend Tom Turnbull, was interviewed during the game by The Score's Adnan Virk, one of his former students at Ernestown Secondary School. That was a sight-and-a-half to see.
