Friday Night Lights under a microscope, but what about the really important question?

Something for all you well-read sports geeks on this Labour Day Monday: The Quad, the New York Times college football blog, is having a panel discussion on Buzz Bissinger's Friday Night Lights.

(This fall marks 20 years since the events that were chronicled in the book.) It was probably smart to wait until the Deadspin commenters had finished having their fun with Bissinger.

As for the small-screen edition of FNL ... school is starting tomorrow, so here's hoping all of you finished your summer assignment, which was to watch the first and second season DVDs and come up with a definitive answer who's the most desirable out of the actresses who play Tyra, Lyla and Julie. That's the really important question with that franchise.

Another important question, how is Minka Kelly 28?

She must be Sarah Palin's oldest child.

Have you guys seen the new GQ? There's a big full-page spread of the three lovelies of FNL.

It's like looking into someone's White Party-themed dream. ;)

White Party? What does a TV show have to do with the Republican National Convention?

(Linked to the GQ story a while back, actually.)

Zing! Maybe it's because I'm getting old, but I'm partial to Mrs. Coach.
