Hockey Morning in Beijing

Believe it or not, Team Canada is playing hockey in August. The Men’s Olympic Field Hockey Team has taken to the pitch in Beijing and although they got hammered in their first game, they are not discouraged.

It was a tough start to the tournament since Australia is the top ranked team in the world, but we played ok,” said team manager Ajay Dube of the 6-1 loss.

Dube, who played field hockey for Canada in the 1988 Seoul games, says the Canadian side is “well” and the gritty squad is looking forward to their second game in Group B action. “We need to focus on tomorrow against Pakistan, a team that we can and should beat.”

The game is scheduled for 5:49 AM ET, Wednesday morning.
