Your regularly scheduled Euro coverage will return within a couple of hours, but in the meantime some news about the home team.
Canada started its World Cup qualifying campaign yesterday against one of the stronger Caribbean sides, the Vinny Heat - St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The opener was in SVG. And although there would have been absolutely no excuse not to get a result from the game, it was nice to see Canada come away with a solid 3-0 win. The result takes pressure off of the return leg in Montreal on Friday.
If SVG defeats Canada by four goals here, Canada doesn't deserve to go to the World Cup. It would barely deserve to watch the World Cup, actually.
So, a nice start. The real work begins in August.
