UPDATE ON A LYNX STAFFER

For you baseball fans here in the capital, got a little update on a former Lynx staffer: Jody Kingsbury, who interned last summer with the capital's late and lamented Triple-A baseball team, has spent his winter wisely. Kingsbury has been putting together some very well-done highlight packages for the McMaster Marauders.

Here's hoping that expertise and enthusiam is rewarded by a sports organization someplace -- and that a few more CIS schools take a cue from what Kingsbury's doing -- professionally done recaps that still have a little DIY to them, and can be shared for days after a game.

I was watching Kingsbury's highlights packages in Hamilton before for Thursday's volleyball final to do some scouting, and was very impressed. He's got a good balance between presenting the important moments and keeping it concise. Mac's doing plenty of innovating on the sports information front: they've also started webcasting some games live over the Internet. It would be great to see other CIS schools follow this lead, as it might help gain some publicity for a league that could surely use it.

Yeah, you're nothing if you don't have highlights...

What Queen's did for Brady Olsen's goal could've been done for a plethora of highlights this year - what about some of Jimmy Allin's punt returns, or Mike Giffin's five-broken-tackle runs?

A while back when Queen's first started that "iTunes U" thing that they never do anything for anymore, they had 'highlight packages' for a bunch of their teams, which turned out to just be a bunch of boring run-of-the-mill plays, and in some occassions were closer to bloopers than highlights. On second thought, maybe we shouldn't trust them with it.

I for one would welcome having Jimmy's 115-yard runback vs. Western in the playoffs on an iPod shuffle... whenever I need to weep bitter tears.

How's this for my Gaels geek cred: I created Queen's in NCAA 2008 and by the third season, beat LSU for the BCS title ... alas, we're on probation now.

Haha, that's awesome! Did you recreate the roster as well? The only problem is that scenario involves the Gaels jumping to the NCAA...

When you create the team, you can customize its original roster, so I tried to do the best I can with the current roster...

One option it didn't have was to not have player names on the jerseys — even though several teams go without.

For the record, iPod shuffles don't have video.

Fine, whatever, some of us gotta make student loan payments and can't afford all the hi-tech gadgets, TK.
