IN A WEST VIRGINIA MINUTE, EVERYTHING CAN CHANGE

The press in Hamilton was quite quick to get denials about Charlie Taaffe deserting the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to take a college job in the NCAA

Maybe so, maybe not; Taaffe does fill a very necessary role as that CFL coach who brings up his American playbook and doens't know how to adapt it to the Canadian league. What's really something is how newspaper beat writers down there in the U.S. of A are just so desensitized to a coach quitting on a team to take a better job.

Quiet goings into the night are just perfectly normal; up here, we still have a capacity for shock.

Interesting: Taafe is no longer mentioned in the linked article, and it only lists three assistants now (with the title changed to WVU adds assistants). I'm guessing they originally had Taafe's hiring as fact?

Yeah, the Hamilton media reported denials from the Tabbies and the Mountaineers... looks like they had bad info down in WFV.
