Being a fan of unorthodox and slightly far-fetched ideas with a remote chance of being realized means hoping there's something to this rumour about Toronto FC acquiring Marta (pictured), the world's best women's footballer.
It probably will never happen. On a larger point, a viable women's pro league, whatever the team sport. is always a higher goal (greatest good for the greatest number and all), even if having someone kick through the glass ceiling gets 1,000 times more media attention than anything Marta does with her Umeå IK club team in Sweden.
(By the way, the Red Patch Boys were name-checked on Deadspin.)
