LYNX: SCALES WEIGHS IN WITH THE BAT

All good things came to an end with a distinctive crack of the bat last night in the sixth inning (boxscore, play-by-play). Happ (4-5, 4.54 ERA), who'd pitched around trouble most of the night, made a mistake and the switch-hitting Bobby Scales turned on it and launched a ball over the left field wall. The former 2006 Lynx, errr, Scran-Yank, check that, Red Barons team-mate made a point with his glove too, robbing Jason Jaramillo of a hit in the fifth.

Another former 2006 Lynx player (but not SWB team-mate) and all-around good guy Ed Rogers, scored what would prove to be the winning run in the seventh after taking third (pictured at right) on a wild pitch. We'd love to hate him, but we just can't. Pawsox pitcher and 40 man roster guy, Devern Hansack (8-7, 3.78 ERA) did just enough to pick up the win, handing it over to the 'pen in the seventh.

All talk, no action: Quite literally. The dust-up we'd been promised never materialized (more later over at ottawalynxblog.com).

Tonight's game sees John Ennis (4-4, 3.73 ERA) matched up with Mike Burns (4-7, 4.25 ERA). In his last start against the Lynx (July 19), Burns was tagged with six runs over five innings. Jim Rushford did the majority of the damage that night with a grand-slam.
